I'm still looking for my next car. Eyes set on a 2011-2013 335is w/ DCT. I asked my dealer to help me with the search and through their dealer-trade network he found me a 2011 model with ~40k miles and DCT, but almost no other nicety. No heated seats, no Nav/iDrive. Both I have currently in my 07 335i.
So, to the point of my post: Have you ever gone from a car with a fancy in-car navigation/entertainment system to one without? And if so did you regret it?
I have a smartphone. I could just use that to replace the navigation but for both convenience and maybe some vanity reasons I think I would miss the in-car navigation. I would definitely miss the heated seats in the winter time.

Not in the least. We just got rid of our Suburban and IS250, both with Nav for the '14 Focus/Fusion ST pair, neither with nav. My wife likes in-car nav, but eventually even she couldn't disagree that we almost exclusively use our phone for navigation these days. All our addresses and calendar items are in there already, just takes a few clicks.
So yes, ditch it, save $1000 or more, don't look back. I will say I like that both our Ford's have the large touchscreen anyway, makes all the controls show up in one place, much fewer buttons.

You're looking for a 335 with DCT? If this is a twin clutch transmission you'll be a long time looking...

Big regrets. Especially as time has gone on.
Because you get used to the ease of use. Most of the time, cars with the full blown Nav also have everything else. I kinda miss the ability to not have to use my phone. My area doesn't change a whole lot, and Ford gives free map updates. So it was nice to have that system.
Current car doesn't, and its sometimes pointless, additional work.
My favourite system is the MMI, I can't imagine plunking 50k on the next car and not having it there.

Well, i used to have a satnav in my old CLS550, and now i don't have one in my Crown. And i don't regret it. Satnav sometimes distract you, and i don't like to be distracted by them because i enjoy my commute to see things.
But i miss the heated seats. Go get those.

The only trick with some phone app navigation systems is that the minute you drive into a corridor of poor data service, you're kind of stuck until you drive back into service again and that could be a problem depending on how your data service coverage maps look. Best to keep a backup handheld nav system handy at the least.

Yes, Yes I have.
I would say the thing I miss the most is actually the heated seats, although, I would say I have a good sense of direction so nav was never really something I used anyways...

I'd say keep looking, at least for one with heated seats! Mr parents both have 335i one with nav one without and i personally like the screen but its not a necessity. but they both have heated seats at least. There should be plenty of better optioned 335is out there

my BMW has built-in Nav and I have spotty phone data coverage out this way. Even in cities, I prefer built in since it'll never lose your location. I don't think I can downgrade.
The heated seats I'd miss too much. We have heated seats and steering wheel in our BMW and they're as good as sex on our cold South Dakota months. I'm kind of weird - I find the heated seats to be nice in the summer for long trips too.
My only other thing I hate about switching between our cars is that our BMW has xenon lights and the others don't. The difference is impressive

For my family, we've never gotten a car without in car navi after the first one that we did get with it.
